Head Professional

From a young age I was involved in several sports including AFL, basketball, Ten Pin Bowling before finally settling on golf after an injury plagued teenage life. This led me to join Rossdale Golf Club at the age of 16 where I started off a handicap of 27 (Max for men), and this is where my golf story began. I was lucky enough to get a job at the Peninsula Country Golf Club in Frankston as a shop assistant. At Peninsula I was in a position to get regular coaching and also had fantastic facilities to practice on for free when ever I want so that helped my gave develop quickly.

As a 17 year old I was playing in B grade for the Rossdale Club Championships but managed to qualify for the A Grade finals as I saw my handicap reduce from 10 to 4 in the space of 2 months. By my 18th birthday I played off of 0.  During my time at the club I represented Rossdale in Junior, Colt and Senior Pennant. I left Rossdale not long after turning 18 and moved to Long Island Country Club where I can safely say after a few run ins with some older members It led me to quit golf for 4 years. When I returned in 2006 I just played socially and purely for fun. I got asked to play in a charity golf day at Sandhurst where they gave me a handicap of 18, I had 54 points that day and refused to hand my card in as I was embarrassed that they didn’t believe that I once played off scratch

AFL was everything for me growing up and it wasn’t until I finished high school when I started to take golf seriously due to too many injuries. The following is a rough timeline of my experience in the golf industry:

  • Qualified for the 2001 Victorian Open @ Cranbourne GC
  • Started Traineeship @ Centenary Park GC 2008
  • Won Murray Downs GC Pro-Am 2008
  • Won Flinders GC Pro-Am 2010
  • Won The National Trainee Event 2010
  • Won St Andrews Beach Trainee Event 2010
  • Graduated from the PGA of Australia 2010
  • Moved to Ballarat GC as the Assistant Professional
  • Coached the Ballarat District Junior Team to 3 consecutive Division 1 Championship 2011-14
  • Became Head Professional at Ballarat GC 2014
